Heidelberg nightlife is concentrated in the area around the Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Ghost), in the Old Town. Don't miss a visit to one of the old student taverns that have been in business for ages and have the atmosphere to prove it. Today's students, however, are more likely to hang out in one of the dozen or more bars on Untere Strasse, which runs parallel to and between Hauptstrasse and the Neckar River, starting from the market square. Begin at one end of the street and work your way down; you'll find bars that specialize in all sorts of tastes. The fanciest bars and yuppie cafés are along Hauptstrasse.
