In the shadow of the Leipziger Universitätsturm is the glass-and-concrete home of the city orchestra, one of Germany's greatest. Kurt Masur is a former director, and Herbert Blomstedt is currently at the helm. Owing to the world-renowned acoustics of the concert hall, a tone resonates here for a full two seconds.
