Fairy-Tale Road Restaurants

Ratskeller

Ratskeller Review

This cavernous cellar, with a three-story-high vaulted ceiling, is said to be Germany's oldest and most renowned town-hall restaurant—it's been here for 600 years. Serving solid, typical North German fare, its walls are lined with wine casks, and there are intimate alcoves with doors, once shut tight by merchants as they closed their deals. By long tradition only German wines are served here, and the only beer you can get is Beck's and Franziskaner from the barrel.
