Hotel Krone Assmannshausen Review

From its humble beginnings in 1541 as an inn for sailors and ferrymen, the Krone evolved into an elegant, antique-filled hotel with a restaurant ($$$$) that offers first-class service and fine wining and dining. Classic cuisine prepared by chef Jens Kottke and a superb wine list, including the famed Spätburgunder red wines of Assmannshausen, make for memorable meals indoors or on the terrace overlooking the Rhine. Rooms at the back of the hotel have a less spectacular view, facing busy railroad tracks, but thick glass provides good soundproofing. Two of the suites have their own sauna.
