Haus der Geschichte (House of History)

Haus der Geschichte (House of History) Review

German history since World War II is the subject of this museum, which begins with "hour zero," as the Germans call the unconditional surrender of 1945. The museum displays an overwhelming amount of documentary material organized on five levels and engages various types of media. It's not all heavy either—temporary exhibits have featured political cartoonists, Cold War-era sporting contests pitting East Germany versus West Germany, and an in-depth examination of the song Lili Marleen, sung by troops of every nation during World War II.
