Transportation Basics
You don't need or want a car in Corfu town, which is compact and easily walkable. Buses run to the island's main towns and beaches, but if you want to visit some of Corfu's loveliest and most inaccessible places, all of them within an hour or two of Corfu town, you'll need a car. Corfu's gentle climate and rolling hills make it ideal motorbike country. You can rent cars and motorbikes at the airport or near the harbor in Corfu town. If you plan to visit only a few of the major towns, the inexpensive local bus system will do. Taxis can be hired for day trips from Corfu town.
