On a hilltop offering spectacular views over several villages, the sea, and Antiparos clear in the distance, the open-all-year Petali is a mini-Cycladic village and, while built recently, it blends in with its ageless surrounds. Inside, the decor features wood-beam ceilings, four-posters, tablecloth drapes, antiques, and a cozy sense of style; many of the room balconies are embowered in ivy. The restaurant is serious, there's a vast and relaxing terrace around a pool, and the amenities are worth the price. Transfers are extra. The Petali is not far from the bustling center of Apollonia, but it's far enough for true peace and quiet: it's located on the pedestrian street leading to Artemonas—there is a sign to it on the car road, halfway up.
