After the time-stained, millennia-old charm of Sifnos, the suave luxury of Elies may be exactly what the doctor ordered—the show begins with a terraced hill set covered with the usual Cycladic village sprawl of white-on-white villas around a pool but, in this case, sleekness has nearly steamrolled traditional Siphnian style, so get ready to vibe with white-on-gray color schemes, spare and elegant furniture, and glittering, cubistic bathrooms.

Elies (it means "olive trees") has a large pool, superfluous so near the sea, within walking distance of the guest rooms, all with terraces and balconies (and suites have private pools). Although a bit isolated from the island center, the hotel does reach out, offering guests speedboat tours, pottery-making lessons, and photo safaris—bravo! The price includes transfer.
