A regular Pythagorio clientele frequents Maritsa, a simple fish taverna in a garden courtyard on a quiet, tree-lined side street. You might try shrimp souvlaki, red mullet, octopus, or squid garnished with garlicky skordalia (a thick lemony sauce with pureed potatoes, vinegar, and parsley). The usual appetizers include a sharp tzatziki (tangy garlic-yogurt dip with cucumber) and a large horiatiki ("village" or "country" salad) piled high with tomatoes, olives, onion, and feta cheese.
