Megas Taxiarchis (Great Archangel)

Megas Taxiarchis (Great Archangel) Review

One of the largest and wealthiest churches in Greece, the 18th-century church of Megas Taxiarchis commands the main square; its vernacular baroque is combined with the late-folk-art style of Chios. The church was built on the ruins of the central refuge tower. Ask at the main square for Elias, the gentle old man in the village who is the keeper of the keys.
