Getting Here

Bus Travel

Buses are more convenient than train services and run from Thessaloniki to Veria every hour starting early in the morning (1 hr, EUR 6, EUR 9 round-trip). For bus times to Veria call KTEL Veria (2310/595408). From Veria take the bus to Vergina (20 min, every other hour from 6:45 am to 8 pm, EUR 1.50). Ask to be let off at the Vergina archaeological sites. For the tombs look for a low hillock in the center of town with souvenir shops nearby. The palace and the theatre are about 1 km (½ mi) southeast of the village up a low hill. Veria is also on the bus route from Athens to Naousa

Train Travel

The easiest way to get to Vergina is by car but you can also get here with public transport via Veria, 11 km (7 mi) away, using trains or buses. There are regular trains from Thessaloniki to Veria from 6:15 am which take 1 hr. However, the station (23310/24444) is 3 km (2 mi) outside of Veria so you will need to take a taxi to the bus station (23310/22342) in the center.
