What to Pack

Outside Athens, Greek dress tends to be middle of the road—you won't see torn jeans or extremely expensive suits, though locals tend to dress up for nightclubs. In summer bring lightweight, casual clothing and good walking shoes. A light sweater or jacket, or a shawl, is a must for cool evenings. There's no need for rain gear in high summer, but don't forget sunglasses and a sun hat. Be prepared for cooler weather and some rain in spring and fall. Be prepared to dress conservatively when visiting churches or monasteries.
