Budapest's best boutique hotel has come a long way from its origins as a 1930s-era orphanage. Opened as a hotel in 2001, it exudes grand style. In the bright Art Deco lobby the sound of rushing water from a glass-window waterfall blends artfully into soft jazz music playing on the sound system, and hip young staff receive guests at the funky orange-lit front desk. Done up in terra-cotta, blue, and cream, rooms are large and well appointed; most have lovely balconies overlooking the trees and mansions of the Andrássy út. With colorful, coordinated tilework, bathrooms follow the room design. The hotel lacks health and fitness facilities, but free access to a nearby center is available. A surcharge applies to children staying with their parents. Taxes are not included.

The rooms are very nice with balconies.Hotel restaurant & bar were excellent. Staff was most most helpful and personable. The location is a little removed from the central shopping district, but there is a metro station within a few blocks. We were glad to be away from the noise of downtown. Hotel is excellent value.
