Augustine Abbey Review

Cong is surrounded by many stone circles and burial mounds, but its most notable ruins are those of the Augustine Abbey, overlooking a river. Dating from the early 12th century when it was founded by Turlough O'Connor, the High King of Ireland, this Abbey still retains some finely carved details and a cloister.

    Augustine Abbey Review

You can spend an hour or a day. The ruins and grounds were quite stunning on the beautiful "blue sky" day that we visited.

Right next to the "Quiet Man" house,it's easy to do and well worth it.
