Cork Opera House Review

This unattractive concrete hulk erected in 1965 replaced an ornate and much-loved opera house that was ruined in a fire. Later attempts to integrate the opera house with its neighbor, the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, have softened the grim facade of the huge auditorium that hosts theatrical productions and visiting stars of light entertainment alongside the occasional opera. The piazza outside has sidewalk cafés and street performers.
