$$-$$$$, City Center
Fodor's Review:
Every modern city needs its little oases of sanctuary and the Central's book-and-armchair-filled Library bar -- warmed by its Victorian fireplace -- nicely fits the bill. Established in 1887, this grand, old-style redbrick spot is in the heart of the city center, steps from Grafton Street, Temple Bar, and Dublin Castle. Recently renovated rooms are snug but you'll hardly notice the dimensions thanks to the high ceilings and the cosseting and stylish furnishings -- flocked bedspreads, racing paintings, and 19th-century bric-a-brac make some of these rooms World of Interiors-worthy. The stately hotel dining room delights with its pastel-green walls, bookcases, and gilt-frame pictures. Much less soigné and a good deal more lively is Molly Malone's Tavern, adjacent to the hotel, with plenty of regulars who come for the atmosphere and the live, traditional Irish music on Friday and Saturday nights.
