St. Mary's Collegiate Church dates from the 13th century and contains many interesting monuments, including the tomb of Richard Boyle (1566-1643), who succeeded Sir Walter Raleigh as Mayor of Youghal and became the first earl of Cork. The brightly painted monument commemorates his three wives and 16 children and is similar to the monument in St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin, which Sir Richard ordered because he was not sure whether he would die in Dublin or Youghal.
