Desmond Castle and the International Museum of Wine

Fodor's Review:

The Desmond Castle and the International Museum of Wine are in a 15th-century fortified town house – originally a custom house – that has a dark history. It was used as a prison for French and American seamen in the 1700s, and was subsequently a jail and then a workhouse. Now it contains displays that tell the story of the wine trade and its importance to the Irish diaspora to France, America, Australia, and New Zealand.
