Based in the heart of Sligo's burgeoning Italian Quarter—set up in 2012— Bistro Bianconi has built on its 20-year-strong reputation for top-class pizzas baked in a wood-burning oven. Inventive gourmet pizzas include the Michelangelo (goat cheese, caramelized onions, pepperoni, and a sprinkling of Parmesan), Cajun chicken, the Vegetariano, and the old reliable Quatro Formaggi. The menu offers classic and contemporary Italian dishes such as fresh pasta and lasagna, while chicken bocconcini, (hicken with cheese) the signature dish, is as popular as ever. A children's menu is available at lunchtime and until 7 pm. Let the perfume of basil pesto, garlic, and Tuscan bread wash over you as you sip a glass of Chianti or Montepulciano from the Sensi Collezione, and admire the beautiful prints on the walls. Close your eyes and you could just as easily be in Firenze or Napoli.
