$, Italian, Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi
Fodor's Review:
Overlooking olive groves seeming to run into the sea, this fourth-generation establishment has been welcoming hungry travelers for more than 100 years. Two eye-knocking, huge, beamed rooms with sprays of fernery, antique mirrored sideboards, hundreds of mounted plates, brick archways, old chandeliers, fresh flowers, and tangerine-hue tablecloths is quite a sight -- a virtual living museum to traditional Sorrentine arts and crafts. Tagliolini con zafferano, zucchine e gamberi (pasta with saffron, zucchini, and prawns), ravioli with clams and arugula, and other bountiful country cuisine is tutto buono. Reservations are essential for Saturday dinner and Sunday brunch. Perched above the restaurant, with sweeping views over to Capri and across the Bay of Naples, are eight well-appointed rooms -- much better than those under the same management across the road in the Villa Pina.
