Immortalized in a photo spread in Travel & Leisure and dotted with some of the most picturesque hotel architecture on Capri, this unique option is noted for its "artisan" style. Named after its dynamic owner-manageress, this is a popular international stopover for young Wandervögel (travelers) who have a laid-back approach to traveling. Most guest rooms are in small, low-impact villas set in luxuriant gardens, and they often come with rotunda ceilings, toy fireplaces, and plenty of Caprese arts and crafts, vibrantly hued and dottily accented. After enjoying the large piano-shape swimming pool, you can alternatively head for the nearby Blue Grotto for a late-afternoon swimming expedition. The price is right: one reason why this choice may be too popular for its own good (which may explain the sagging beds, aging bathrooms, and -- at least on one occasion -- bothersome mosquitoes). Another debit is the location, at the far back end of Anacapri. While you are only a few minutes' walk from the Villa Damecuta ruins, you're very far away from the action on Capri -- but perhaps that's how you like it?
