Casa Romei Review

This ranks among Ferrara's loveliest Renaissance palaces. Built by the wealthy banker Giovanni Romei (1402-83), it's a vast structure with a graceful courtyard. Mid-15th-century frescoes decorate rooms on the ground floor; the piano nobile (main floor) contains detached frescoes from local churches as well as lesser-known Renaissance sculptures. The Sala delle Sibelle has a very large 15th-century fireplace and beautiful wood-coffered ceilings.
