This mellow, inviting restaurant owned by the Giardi family serves such Mantuan specialties as tortelli di zucca (homemade pasta stuffed with sweetly spiced pumpkin in sage butter) and ranne fritte (fried frogs' legs). For dessert, try sbrisolona, which means "crumbs" in Mantuan dialect. This crumb cake with whole almonds and a deceptively large amount of butter is served warm and is meant to be eaten with the hands.
