Hotel Sant'Angelo Review

What better way to get close to Matera's trogloditic Sassi than to stay in a hotel that actually incorporates some of the caves as highly upgraded guest rooms. Looking across a piazza to the church of San Pietro Caveoso, this is indeed an unusual hotel, created by interior designer Stefano Tardito. The rooms have authentic touches like rough-hewn walls and arches, softened by elegant furnishings and modern amenities. After a meal in the sophisticated restaurant, the best place to relax is on the terrace, with a wonderful view over the town. Because of the number of steps, this hotel isn't good for people with limited mobility.
