Nowhere else do the lingering rays of the setting Roman sun seem more inviting than within the tavern garden of this charming Trastevere haunt -- reputedly the onetime home of Raphael's lady love, La Fornarina. Generations of Romans and tourists have enjoyed its romantic courtyard, where, in the evening, you might be serenaded by strolling musicians. The cuisine won't win any awards but is appropriately Roman and tasty enough; specialites include mozzarella alla fornarina (deep-friend mozzarella with ham and anchovies). Alternatively, try one of the new vegetarian pastas featuring carciofi artichokes or radicchio.

We've eaten here two times. In the summer in the garden and in the winter by the fire.
GREAT food, great service. Highly recommended
