At perhaps the most upscale wine bar in town, decorated with wrought-iron vines, wood paneling, and velvet, you can choose from about 30 wines. You can sit at the bar and sip and chat with the owners about the latest vintages, or why you prefer pinot nero to merlot (alla "Sideways"). But now that they're serving food at this enoteca-turned-restaurant, why not come for a full meal? Especially when the food is appropriately raffinato(refined): marinated and smoked fish, composed salads, top-quality salami and other cured meats (classical and wild), as well as the hard-to-come-by terrines and pâtés. There are plenty of dishes with classic Roman leanings, like the artichoke dish prepared three ways -- Roman style, Jewish style, and in a soufflé of sorts. Main courses like a delicious roast lamb, a fillet with foie gras, or game (like pigeon, in season) round out the meal and compliment the obviously excellent wine selection (particularly the vast offering of top-notch reds). The restaurant boasts 80 assorted cheeses, so with your fragrant slices, savor a nice glass of dessert wine. Ask, and trust, your server.
