Palazzo Venezia

Palazzo Venezia Review

A former fortress, Venetian embassy, and fascist headquarters, Palazzo Venezia has a rich history of popes, dictators, and architects (courtyard conceived by Leon Battista Alberti), and thus its incarnation as national museum is not surprising. Its permanent collection includes works by Bernini, Giorgione, and Guercino, and the piano nobile (noble floor) hosts private exhibitions of international acclaim. Shows have included Sebastiano del Piombo, Julian Schnabel, and Caravaggisti (followers of Caravaggio).
