Biblioteca Angelica

Biblioteca Angelica Review

If you've watched the film Angels and Demons, you'll have seen this library before, albeit under the false name of "Biblioteca Vaticana," the real Vatican library having refused permission due to the book/film's dodgy theology and even more improbable plot. Founded by Augustinian Cardinal Angelo Rocca in 1604, this bibliophile's paradise now contains 180,000 books (a preliminary letter attesting genuine research interest is needed for access to the books). The ground floor stages temporary exhibitions from time to time.
