Housed in a 15th-century former monastery, the museum's archeological collections were amassed largely out of the donated collections of Veronese citizens proud of their city's classical past. Though there are few blockbusters here, there are some very noteworthy pieces (especially among the bronzes), and it is interesting to see what was collected by cultured Veronese during the 17th to 19th centuries. The museum sits high above the Teatro Romano, ancient Verona's theater, dating from the 1st century AD, which is open to visitors.
