When they want to eat well, Vicentini generally head to the countryside, so it is telling that this is one of the few restaurants in the city frequented by local families and the business community. In Veneto country style, with enormous murals, it offers simple, well-prepared regional cuisine with some modern touches. The risotto, delicately flavored with wild mushrooms and zucchini flowers, is creamy and beautifully textured—or try the Vicenza specialty baccalà (a cod dish). The "Menu Palladiana" presents 16th-century dishes featuring spices common during that period, such as cinnamon and cloves, and omitting items like tomatoes and potatoes, which were new to Europe at that time.
