Antico Frantoio
Antico Frantoio Review
On a small street, inside the walls of the Fortezza dei Senesi, you'll find this ancient olive press. Mules harnessed to the heavy stone wheel pulled it around, and as it rolled, the olives on the flat surface were crushed by its weight, extracting the precious oil—the same technique is used today (minus the mules). At press time, the mill was closed for restoration.
