San Quirico d'Orcia

San Quirico d'Orcia, on the modern Via Cassia (SR2) south from Siena toward Rome, has almost-intact 15th-century walls topped with 14 turrets. The pleasantly crumbling appearance of the town recalls days of yore, and it's well suited for a stop to enjoy a gelato in a local bar or a meal and to see its Romanesque church.
