Fodor's Review:

Hidden away on one of the most romantic fondamente of Cannaregio, this family-run bacaro/trattoria is the place to stop for fairly priced, great-tasting food in a part of town that doesn't teem with restaurants. The space has plenty of character: narrow columns rise from the colorful mosaiclike floor, dividing the room into cozy booths. Traditional Venetian fare is enriched with such offerings as carpacci di pesce (thin slices of raw tuna, swordfish, or salmon dressed with olive oil and fragrant herbs), tagliatelle with king prawns and zucchini flowers, and several tasty fish stews. Meat dishes are also served, including a tender beef fillet stewed in Barolo wine with potatoes.

A plesant stay near church Madonna dell'Orto

It is a little bit difficult to find but you will be rewarded by the very fine taste of the plate of fish (as usual in Venice), the good level of the service and the charm of the fondamenta della Sensa. In winter, after a long run, it represents a welcome stop. In summer, you will enjoy the peace and the calm of the little canal nearby. I went there twice in 2007 and I will return.
