If you're tired of fish, this is the place to go, as meat dishes from the mainland are menu mainstays. Despite the tourist-trap name and proximity to the Guggenheim Museum, it's a favorite with Venetians looking to splurge. Feast on filetto di maiale con castraure (pork fillet with baby artichokes), duck breast with apple and sweet onion, or more traditional dishes from the Veneto hills such as horse meat and game, gnocchi, and polenta. The wine list is above average in quality and variety.

Having read various reviews on a variety of websites we decided to try AG. Very disappointed. Prices are high (we paid about £120 ($240) for 2 courses and a good bottle of wine) - which we don't mind if you get good quality but the food was average. My wife had dep fied zucchini flowers for a starter for which we paid something like $20 and veal cheeks with polenta which was about $30 -both very ordinary. We paid something similar at the Metropole the previous evening but it was worth every penny. AG is just not in the league that it likes to think it is in.
