One of the most enchanting hotels in Venice, this hotel appears like a mirage: in one of the most densely packed parts of the city (actually a promontory where two side canals converge with the Grand Canal), an iron gate parts and you find yourself in a large and elegant garden set with flower beds and stone cupids, all offering an emerald-green backdrop for the Gothic-style "villa" charmingly decorated with a connoisseur's eye, like a 3D Tiepolo painting. The traditionally decorated guest rooms are outfitted with Venetian-style antique reproductions and fine tapestry, and overlook either the picturesque Rio San Trovaso or the lush gardens. Inlaid designs or mosaics decorate marble or ceramic tiled baths. Book well in advance.
