The Albus Grand's exterior has been graciously designed to conjure up the look of yesteryear. Inside, seven floors offer rooms of a comfortable size. Even the street-side rooms, which overlook the Munt tower and Flower Market, are remarkably quiet because of their double-paned windows. The hotel lobby and guest rooms are tastefully decorated with wicker chairs and contemporary paintings from the owners' collection. The buffet in the light and cheerful breakfast room serves Dutch specialties as well as more run-of-the-mill fare. Pros: Dutch specialities at breakfast, close to Kalverstraat shopping. Cons: restaurant has disappointing view, noise from ongoing construction near hotel.
