¢-$, Canal Ring
Fodor's Review:
In a 17th-century building on the Herengracht canal, this hotel embodies what the Dutch call klein maar fijn (small but good). Rooms are unpretentious but comfortable, and the ones in front have a canal view. Some have shared baths. The absence of amenities is offset by the cordiality of the family that runs the property, the great location (near the Anne Frank House, shopping streets, and the major art museums), and the relatively gentle price tag. Pros: pleasant staff, good value. Cons: basic furnishings, not all rooms have private bathrooms.
