What began in the early '70s as an erotic magazine outlet has grown into reputedly the largest English-language book emporium on the continent. True to its name, the stock is strongly oriented toward American tastes and expectations, with its vast selection spread over seven stories. Since opening in its new location in 2006, now with a 20-foot-high poplar tree trunk in its entry reminding readers of the source of all literature, the store is bustling more than ever. (Students, senior citizens, and teachers receive a 10% discount.)
