Hours of Operation
Restaurants are usually open evenings 6-11, although some kitchens close as early as 10, and many are closed on Sunday or Monday.
Major sights, such as Amsterdam's Koninklijk Paleis (Royal Dam Palace) have summer opening hours; some parks are open dawn to dusk, others 24/7; the scenic courtyard hofjes are usually open at the discretion of the inhabitants.
Museum hours vary; to give some instances, the city's famous Van Gogh museum is open 10-6 (and on Friday, 10-10), and the Anne Frank House is open 9-9 mid-March-mid-September (Saturday, 9-10) and until 10 in July and August, and 9-7 mid-September-mid-March (Saturday, 9-9).
Note that when this book refers to summer hours, it means approximately Easter (between March 22 and April 25) to October; winter hours run from November to Easter.
