Fodor's Review:

Part of the University of Bergen, this museum has two collections. The Cultural History Department has a fascinating collection of archaeological artifacts and furniture and folk art from western Norway. Some of the titles of the displays are "Inherited from Europe," "Viking Times," "Village Life in the Solomon Islands," and "Ibsen in Bergen"; the latter focuses on the famous playwright's six years in Bergen working with the local theater. The Natural History Department is perfect for lovers of the outdoors, since it includes botanical gardens. Exhibits include "The Ice Age," "Oil Geology," "Fossils," "Mineral Collections," and "The Evolution of Man."

  • Open: June-Aug., Tues.-Fri. 10-4, weekends 11-4; Sept.-May, Tues.-Fri. 10-2, weekends 11-3
