Heddal Stave Church

Heddal Stave Church Review

At 85 feet high and 65 feet long, the Heddal Stave Church is Norway's largest still in use, and it dates back to the 12th century. The structure is resplendent with rosemaling (decorative flower painting from the 17th century), a bishop's chair, and incense vessels from the Middle Ages. Look out for the stylized animal ornamentation and the grotesque human heads on the portals.
