Muzeum Czartoryskich (Municipal Arsenal)

Muzeum Czartoryskich (Municipal Arsenal) Review

The surviving fragment of Kraków's city wall opposite the Barbakan, where students and amateur artists hang their paintings for sale in the summer, is a part of the Arsenal Miejski. Here you'll find the Muzeum Czartoryskich (main entrance around the corner from Jana Street), a fantastic small museum that's part of the National Gallery. Its collection includes such celebrated paintings as Rembrandt's Landscape with the Good Samaritan. The prize—and to many observers the most beautiful portrait ever painted—is Leonardo da Vinci's Cecilia Gallerani, also known as the Lady with an Ermine.Note that, at this writing, the museum is closed for restoration work that's slated to last until some time in 2013.
