Great Itineraries

Great Itineraries

If You Have 1 or 2 Days

The Tchaikovsky's House Museum in Klin, Leo Tolstoy's Museum in Yasnaya Polyana, Sergiev-Posad, and Abramtsevo Estate Museum can all be easily visited as separate day trips from Moscow.

If you have two days to explore the towns of the Golden Ring, drive or take a morning train to Vladimir. Explore the town, being sure to take in the Church of the Intercession on the Nerl, then travel on to Suzdal and overnight in the beautiful Convent of the Intercession. This will put you right in the thick of things to start exploring Suzdal early the next morning. Return to Moscow via Vladimir late in the day.

Alternatively, take a morning train to Yaroslavl and spend the day and night there. The next morning catch a return train on the same route, stopping off in Rostov (1½ hours from Yaroslavl) to spend the day before catching a late-afternoon train back to Moscow.

If You Have 3 or 4 Days

Follow any of the itineraries above. But for the Vladimir and Suzdal trip, devote another full day to Suzdal. For the Yaroslavl and Rostov trip, overnight in Rostov and then stop for several hours in Pereslavl-Zalessky before returning to Moscow.
