Kinuachdrach

Kinuachdrach Review

The settlement of Kinuachdrach once served as a crossing point to Scarba and the mainland. To get to Kinuachdrach after crossing the river at Lealt, follow the track beyond the surface road for 5 mi. The coastal footpath to Corryvreckan lies beyond, over the bare moors. This area has two enticements: the first is the house at Barnhill (not open to the public) where George Orwell wrote 1984; the second, for wilderness enthusiasts, is the whirlpool of the Gulf of Corryvreckan, where Orwell nearly died, and the unspoiled coastal scenery.
