Castle Sween

Castle Sween Review

The oldest stone castle on the Scottish mainland, dating from the 12th century, sits on a rocky bit of coast about 12 mi south of Crinan. You can reach it via an unclassified road from Crinan that grants outstanding views of the Paps of Jura (the mountains on Jura), across the sound. (Unfortunately, access to the castle itself is through a privately owned caravan park, which spoils the view somewhat.)
