North Carr Lightship

North Carr Lightship Review

After playing a significant role in World War II, Scotland's only remaining lightship was wrecked on the Fife shore during a storm in 1959; seven crew members were lost. At this writing, the ship is closed for refurbishment. The charity Taymara, which looks after the North Carr, runs exhilarating trips on its other vessels, the Badger and the Marigold. Excursions include a half-day trip along the River Tay to Perth or an hour around the mouth of the delta, where dolphins jump and play. Prior booking is essential.
