Beatrix Potter Garden

Beatrix Potter Garden Review

The bridge across the Tay, built by the great engineer Thomas Telford in 1809, connects Dunkeld to the village of Birnam. In the woods on Birnam Hill, some 500 yards from the town center, Macbeth met the three witches who foretold his death. Witty wooden notices lead the visitor to the right tree, a gnarled hollow oak. Less spooky is the Beatrix Potter Garden, which celebrates the life and work of this much-beloved children's writer who, for many years, spent her family holidays in the area. An enchanting garden walk allows you to peep into the homes of Peter Rabbit and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, her best-known characters. The visitor center has a well-stocked shop, a small café, and an imaginative exhibition on the writer's life and work (£1.50).
