$$$-$$$$, Eixample
Fodor's Review:
Reserve well in advance -- this is one of Barcelona's most popular hotels, and early reservations score bargain rates. Its pentagonal lobby has a marble floor and the original columns and courtyard from the 1891 building. The newest rooms have hot tubs and terraces overlooking interior gardens. An affiliated fitness club around the corner offers golf, squash, and swimming. Chef Martín Berasategui's restaurant, Lasarte, is one of Barcelona's most sought after dining spots. Pros: elegant Moderniste building with chic contemporary furnishings, prime spot in the middle of the Eixample. Cons: too large for much of a personal touch, staff somewhat overextended, restaurant Lasarte difficult to book.
