Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao Review

As much modern design celebration as hotel, this Silken chain establishment directly across the street from the Guggenheim showcases the conceptual wit of Javier Mariscal, creator of Barcelona's 1992 Olympic mascot Cobi, and the structural know-how of Bilbao architect Iñaki Aurrekoetxea. With adjustable windowpanes reflecting Gehry's titanium leviathan and every lamp and piece of furniture embodying Mariscal's playful whimsy, this is the brightest star in Bilbao's design firmament. Comprehensively equipped and comfortable, it's the next best thing to moving into the Guggenheim.
