Parador de Hondarribia Review

Also known as Parador El Emperador, this medieval bastion dates from the 10th century and housed Imperial Spain's founding emperor Carlos V in the 16th century. Replete with suits of armor and other chivalric bric-a-brac, the place feels like a movie set (and has occasionally been used as one). Many rooms have views of the Bidasoa estuary. Reserve ahead and ask for one of the three "special" rooms, with canopy beds and baronial appointments, well worth the moderate extra expense.
